Warlock got some bad cards and some mediocre cards.
2 mana for 3 damage, very standard. Its an ok pick much better then shadow bolt which deals 4 damage for 3...thats horrible per mana. However, I cant shake the feeling this card suck as its just 3 damage while frost bolt cost the same but also freezes or lighting bolt cost the same but its a delayed cost. This card is just there. Still removal is very needed in arena so its of course a high value pick but its not that great of a card.
This card SCREAMS Magic the gathering to me. Its text could just say Lifelink. And its really played just like a toughness based white card as well. buff her with a demon card and she attacks for more damage and heals for more. Its very magic over how she can be played. But -- as cards cant be played instantly you cant block with her and suddenly give her +5 attack etc to gain a lot of life. Nor are it actually that many handy buff cards to begin with. Is only 2 for the Warlock deck, the new epic card and the old uncommon demon based card. Of course she still could get temporary neutral buff but. She hardly ever gets buffed basically she is very hard to get value of in arena.
An ok card, 3.5 for 4 is a Ok as stats. Its ability can often be shot directly at just 1 minion that the opponent have which might kill it the issue is that you likely wont have only mech making its ability quite risky. Depending on x number of mech this card can be picked or not, with few mech its just a bad 4 drop.
Demonheart(h) is a decent epic card if you have demons. 5 damage for 5 is really bad. So its more the buff we are after and that sometimes it can remove. Its not a good card unless you got a bunch of demons to buff like Mistress of pain or I guess created by imp-losion. As always those kind of decks are not easy to get in arena draft.
Well this card is great with the classic stealth blood imp. I think this card is very comparable to the fell Reaver huge stats, easily for the opponent to play around, not great. If you already have huge board control and they cant easily aoe them away(extremely unlikely in arena) this card is an amazing 6 turn drop. Not a top pick at all.
Mal'Ganis second ability is very strong it has immediate effect, makes your hero immune from everything and it means he has to die first before you can take any more damage. So in worst case hes a 7 life+ at least. His other ability on the other hand is quite weak as its another Demon based combo card. If he was just cheaper, like 6 mana immune but no ++ demon he would be really great. Now hes a very late card that might save you like Lord jarruxxas (not even gonna bother if I spelled that right).
Because the second effect is very strong just that he will come so late, and same with the old Legendary. Which really don't mix well in arena, no issue in constructed but arena, a high risk.
So in the end all the medium cost legendary with good abilities are far better then him.
--This card also screams white magic cards, feels weird they pull in the white effects for the warlock class.
Judgment Warlock: Goblins vs Gnomes
Warlock has always struggled a lot with arena. And a major reason is because all the horrible class card which are almost unplayable even in constructed, they need so much synergy, support and combo cards (+more synonym's for this).
And clearly a lot of these cards follow that trend, like most of them except the canon which instead forces you to go 100% mech. The only good card for Warlock here in arena is the Floating watcher and dark bomb is ok as removal card.
Well I guess now with more and more demons is easier to get a lot of demons. So one could argue that warlock is better now but I would say warlock is far worse, however in maybe 2-3 more expansion warlock will have so many demon and demon support cards to pick that the chance to build a demon deck is extremely high and that will buff them a lot.
