Meta gaming

Ok I probably should write like 10000000x words on this subject as its the most important skills in most games. For example I was the world best player in Soul arena and Naruto arena(probably still am but don't have time for ladder) and this was all thx to good meta gaming. The actual skills in the game was not that important as knowing how other people pick there teams and how they play them. Same for example Starcraft 2 not the actual number(90%) but the basic strategy of tex going DTS on a close air map(like Scrap/Desert) etc is especially good because the most tactic is either 4 gate or void rays meaning terran or zerg will defend against air if u don't do any 4 gate push leading them into very weak against a DT warp rush. I hope that was better to understand as SC2 is played a lot at least.

The reason I was thinking on this was because today we where starting out a project to implement a game that already exist as a bord game. And I won dreadfully easy. But the problem I feel for my groups is that they are all determine to only fix the essential problems and not make the game better and most of all they only see the negotiation phase as the hard thing, where the game is mostly meta that is important when there is 6 players who can you trust and so on. For me the game is a lot like risk. So of course now the problem is how to make non gamers understand the essential reason for playing games not just 1 game...gamers is important and how to make them really understand that the hardest part to implement is the meta gaming because that is really being removed on the INTERNET, I cant no longer trash talk or try to interfere with other people negotiation etc which is on short time so interfering when they have such a limited time is much effective. Just some small comments in the open will mess them up this clearly needs to be addressed. My current idea is to let the other players but out suggestions boxes how they think the others should split the value to disturb them but also to fool them. For example giving out the best solution for everyone they will think its bad and don't go for it.
